Yakimachi the red light district
The Resistance
Yakimachi has been my home since I moved in 2000. It's initial purpose was to be a venue to keep in touch with my friends back in NJ but it has developed into more of a place for me to dabble in html and css and to be creative, and occupied! Here you can find links and posts on topics I find interesting. Yakimachi is no longer home to a current journal.

The History
Yakimachi was the name I picked out after I moved from Parsippany, NJ to Warrenton, VA. The name comes from the manga series, Blade of the Immortal by Hiroaki Samura. In the novel, Magatsu Taito is in love with a woman who works in the pleasure district (known as the "Red Light District") named O-Ren. Not long after she is introduced as Magtsu's consort, she is killed by Shira, one of the most dangerous villains in the series. The house O-Ren was contracted to was named "Yakumachi" in the manga. Yakimachi as I've used it on this site was taken from the name of this house after reading BOTI.
Yakimachi | Aestival marks my graduation from a site based mostly on html to one designed through mainly CSS. Aestival - I think I've been somewhere special started in the summer of 2006 when I got really REALLY bored and started working on my webpage a lot again. The previous layout was another exercise in CSS and this one is a combination in that and an introduction to javascript. This layout was derived from a Wordpress template made by Derek Punsalan. The javascript was created using a combination of effects from script.aculo.us. The theme is inspired by my caffeine addiction.
